We help prepare documents for the assistance company
Saint Nicholas Medical Center does not sell insurance policies on this page. The clinic helps patients with medical documents, invoice details and information for the assistance company when a policy case is already open or authorization is needed.
This page concerns SOS International, not International SOS.
Travelcare and your insurance agreement
SOS International is an assistance organisation with a Nordic Travelcare activity supporting medical and travel cases. It is a different organisation from International SOS despite the similar names.
For a trip to Bulgaria, check the service named on your policy and use its case contact. Give the insurer and agreement's country of issue rather than relying on the abbreviation SOS. The clinic appointment needs confirmation for the individual patient and visit, not merely general information about the group's services.
Checks for the actual appointment
- Policy dates and your actual stay
- Have the document and dates of your stay in Bulgaria ready. Describe when symptoms began and when assessment is needed; do not change facts to fit an insurance period. If the holiday was extended, ask which policy version is valid. An electronic file does not prove cover for every day, service or condition. The case needs accurate circumstances.
- A new investigation after the first appointment
- If the clinician recommends an additional investigation, report what was requested and when it is available. The original authorisation may not cover the new scope. Check clinic availability separately from financial arrangements. For a review, ask whether the case reference remains valid. A medical recommendation and an insurance payment decision serve different purposes.
- Medical records and payment documents
- Collect the consultation report and evidence of paid services separately. Check the patient’s name, date and description of what was done. Ask about electronic copies, translations and retaining originals. Send legible files: a photograph cutting off the date can lead to another request. A payment receipt alone does not replace a medical report.
Name, pre-assessment and current symptoms
Provide the full organisation name. Retain any pre-assessment of an existing condition and describe changes. An earlier reply neither replaces examination nor authorises every service. Distinguish the old condition from the new reason for attending without hiding medical history. After assessment, clarify documents to add and any separate reimbursement procedure. This keeps current symptoms traceable without assuming a preliminary consultation determined diagnosis or payment for all investigations. Report actual circumstances when plans change.
For new symptoms, do not forward only the preliminary document: add when and what changed. The clinic assesses your present condition while the assistance team considers contractual matters. These tasks do not replace each other and may require different information about the current visit.
An appointment at Saint Nicholas
For information about an initial assessment, see medical consultation; confirm appointment availability and agreed visit details through clinic contacts. Confirm schedules and additional services before travelling. The roles of other organisations appear in the assistance directory.
